It is however not exactly a reference grammar which is served for well by the Routledge comprehensive grammar and ‘Modern Literary Arabic- A Reference Grammar’ by Ron Buckley.
It is full of exercises and a supplementary textbook is available separately that contains the keys. The vocabulary is quite extensive comprising about items. A must for any arabic learner!
Nov 04, Robert Miner rated it it was amazing. I’ve read this book, returned to it frequently for review, and have taught courses using this as the main textbook. I would propose that it’s one of the clearest and most useful introductions into Arabic Grammar for the student of Modern Standard Arabic.

Superb for the fascinating subject that is Arabic grammar! Verb forms you never dreamed existed An Arabic verb can have versions, each of whom has single, dual and plural, in first, second and third person! Nahmzd to mention perfect and several different imperfect forms, etc Did I mention active and passive as well The only negative is that if you want the answers to the exercises, it’s another tenner for the separate book of answers!
